Christine Glover
Colonel (retired) Christine Glover served 30 years in the South Carolina Army National Guard where she rose in rank from Private First Class to Colonel. She received numerous awards during her military career and set the following milestones for the South Carolina Army National Guard:
- The first female to hold a company command in her battalion.
- The first female, on staff, at the Palmetto Military Academy.
- The first female to hold a field grade command in her brigade.
- The first African-American female to command a battalion in her brigade.
- The first African-American female to hold the rank of Colonel in the South Carolina Army National Guard.
- She graduated from the first diverse Army War College class from the South Carolina Army National Guard; being the first (and so far only) African-American female to graduate from the Army War College from the South Carolina Army National Guard.
- The first African-American female inducted into the Palmetto Military Academy Hall of Fame in 2011.
Colonel Glover is the Director of Internal Audit for The City of Tampa. She has over 27 years in internal audit experience in banking, insurance, and government. She previously served as the Director of Internal Audit for the South Carolina Department of Revenue and South Carolina State University. Prior to her mayoral appointment at The City of Tampa, she was appointed to head the Governor’s Office of Executive Policy and Programs by former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
