LT Jeffery A. J. Johnson, Ph.D., serves as Chief Strategy Officer for the Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa (CDC of Tampa), where he helps advance the organization’s 34-year mission of strengthening communities through affordable housing, small business development, workforce initiatives, and neighborhood revitalization. He works closely with executive leadership and public-private partners to ensure strategic alignment, sustainable growth, and measurable community impact.

In addition to his civilian leadership, Dr. Johnson directed commissioned as a Lieutenant (O-3) in the United States Navy Reserve in 2022 serving as a Chaplain with Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic (CNRMA) ROC in Norfolk, Virginia, and supporting Sailors at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. His unit covers base installations from Maine to Florida supporting the religious ministry departments of the United States Navy.

Dr. Johnson previously served 23 years as Senior Pastor of Connections Community Church in Tampa and Lake Wales, Florida. He is now in semi-retirement from pastoral ministry as he expands his calling through naval chaplaincy, leadership development, and community service
