Jailen Marcelin
Jailen Marcelin is a senior high school student attending Bell Creek Academy where his honors include the President’s Award for Educational Excellence, National Merit Scholarship Program Letter of Commendation, the Cambridge AICE Diploma, AP Scholar with Distinction, the Key Club, the Student Government Association, the National English Honor Society and he is dual enrolled and a member of the National Honor Society. As the student body president in his senior year and the National Honor Society President, Jailen possesses a sense of purpose, a recognition that his life has much significance, and he has a passion for helping others succeed. He shows leadership both in the classroom and out in the community.
Jailen volunteers with the American Cancer Society, Metropolitan Ministries, Feeding Tampa Bay, Habitat for Humanity, and Gi Gi’s Playhouse which is a safe playful environment for children who have Downs Syndrome. He plans to attend Howard University and pursue a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. As a dual enrolled MD-PhD student Jailen is involved in various research studies and uses novel techniques to develop effective treatments for various medical conditions.
